The community events and youth projects are designed and led by our amazing GHM team and our local young people.
With so many distractions and challenges our youth and families are facing right now, this was an opportunity for our team to work together with our locals to design creative projects that will benefit our local community.
From fiafia nights that showcased vibrant, cultural groups from local schools, love and light youth concerts to talanoa sessions about the pandemic and health & wellbeing forums, tag game and BBQ on Friday nights at the local park, there was always something happening at our local center or in the community! With the support of our locals, we were able to reach out to hundreds of young people and unite our community for the betterment of our people. Feel free to check out our local events!

Every year at GHM we host a community fiafia evening celebrating our local Pacific Families and Culture! But what are actually fiafia nights? Fiafia means gathering or celebration, and local groups perform and showcase their amazing talent in traditional dancing, singing and even cooking. Fiafia evenings in Puketāpapa are carefully woven with the Poly Embrace initiative where our local youth navigators facilitate and deliver our own designed pacific model alongside our cultural advisory team.

Some of the reasons are weight control, regular exercise increases your overall level of fitness, boosts your immune system, gains energy and has proven to help with your mental health. It can help with a myriad of health issues and it's as easy as taking a simple walk. Once this is established in your daily routine, you can start trying jogging, one step at a time!Read More
